Shimmering evidence of God surrounds me in beauty. The vast open fields are cleansed with a fragrance of rain that lingers in the air. The western sky is filled with the colors of a blue and orange sunset.
Rays of sunlight pierce through the clouds of darkness and shed light on the ground below where waves of golden wheat dance in the cool summer breeze. A full, double rainbow is perched high above the wheat field in a glorious exquisite vision.
If you don’t believe that there is gold at the end of a rainbow, you have never stood in a golden wheat field after a beautiful rain where the bow of colors glorifies the earth below.
A farmer’s field of gold lies in the golden grains of wheat, where long hours of sweat and blood are poured into the earth and planted along the seeds of bread. This is his lifestyle, his income, his gold, his treasure.
Looking up at the rainbow, the farmer seeks a glance of Heaven, knowing the rainbow is one of God’s wonderful promises. “To never flood the earth again.” For in Genesis 9: 13-16 it says:
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
The promises of God are in the rainbow, and the gold in the field represents Heaven on Earth. One day, the farmer will exchange his field of gold for the streets of gold.
We are in the middle of a drought. Please pray for moisture for our cattle and our fields of golden grain.
